A former Citigroup executive is returning to head CitiMortgage.
Sanjiv Das will assume the role of CitiMortgage's chief executive officer on July 16, according to an internal memo from Terri Dial, CEO of Citi Consumer Banking North America. Das will report directly to Dial.
Das is leaving Morgan Stanley, where he was managing director in the institutional securities group. Among jobs he held prior to that was head of marketing and product development in the mortgage and home-equity division of Bank One/First USA.
He previously worked at Citi from 1991 to 1999, serving as head of the global mortgage product group and managing director of marketing and product development at CitiMortgage, the memo indicated. He holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance from the Indian Institute of Management -- Ahmedabad and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Delhi.
"Sanjiv's strong experience in securities as well as consumer banking will help position CitiMortgage for the future," Dial said in the statement.
Das replaces Bill Beckmann, who ended his tenure yesterday to spend more time with his family.
