From May 13 to May 15, the Fourth Annual Fraud and Forensic Accounting Education Conference will be held in Atlanta, a February news release indicated. The convention is being sponsored by the accounting firm of Porter Keadle Moore and Georgia Southern University in conjunction with the Center for Forensic Studies in Accounting and Business.
FBI Special Agent Robert Herndon will keynote the conference. Herndon was a key investigator in the case that inspired the book and recent film The Informant.
Georgia Assistant Attorney General Greg Lohmeier will speak at the Georgia Real Estate Fraud and Prevention and Awareness Coalition's Quarterly Educational Meeting. The complimentary session is being held at the Atlanta Junior League Headquarters on April 14. Lohmeier will discuss the challenges he faced prosecuting Gilford vs. State, a mortgage fraud case.
The Mortgage Bankers Association issued a bulletin indicating that the hotel discount cutoff for its National Policy Conference 2010 ends on March 11. In addition, Michael S. Barr, assistant secretary for financial institutions at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, has been added as a new second-session speaker. The event is being held on April 13 and 14 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency recently said that its Community Bank Directors Workshop in St. Louis on March 23 will provide information that expands bank directors' skills and understanding of issues facing their banks. The $65 workshop includes pre-course reading and course materials, an OCC telephone seminar CD, a community bank supervision handbook and two meals.
From March 21 to March 23, the American Bankers Association is hosting its Real Estate Lending Conference in Weston, Fla., a February statement said. More than 20 sessions will supplemented by case studies, checklists and networking activities. The cost is $1,090 for ABA members and $1,585 for nonmembers.

The 2010 National Interagency Community Reinvestment Conference will be held in New Orleans from March 14 to March 18, a recent statement said. The biennial conference is being hosted by the federal bank and thrift regulatory agencies and the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund.
