Mortgage Bankers Descend on Lawmakers

Upcoming mortgage-related conferences

April 12, 2010

Mortgage bankers this week head to the nation's capitol to enlighten lawmakers about real estate finance issues. Other upcoming events include a bankruptcy workshop, a technology conference and training for customers of the Government National Mortgage Association.

Starting Tuesday and concluding on Wednesday, the Mortgage Bankers Association is holding its National Policy Conference 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C.

Among speakers scheduled to present at the event are U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and U.S. Rep. Paul E. Kanjorski (D-Pa.). The trade group previously indicated that Federal Housing Administration Commissioner David H. Stevens is also among the speakers.

"The real estate finance industry will convene in Washington, D.C., to educate the administration and the Congress on issues that matter most to your careers, your business and our industry," promotional statements on MBA's Web site say. "MBA's National Policy Conference 2010 gives you the opportunity to speak directly to lawmakers about what you do in your community as well as the practical effect proposed changes may have on your business and the industry."
