FICO Credit Scores Now Available to Consumers Through Ellie Mae's Website Offerings for Mortgage Originators

PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 31, 2001--Ellie Mae(SM), Inc., a provider of Internet solutions for the mortgage brokerage community, today announced a strategic partnership with Fair, Isaac and Company, Inc. (NYSE: FIC) that enables mortgage brokers to provide consumers with direct access to their FICO® credit risk score - the most widely used score in lending - as well as a personalized explanation, suggestions for improving the score, and the underlying Equifax Credit Profile(TM).

Now, the more than 4,500 mortgage brokers with Ellie Mae-hosted Web sites can offer borrowers access to myFICO.com(SM), the site that provides the credit scoring information as part of its Score Power(TM) service which Fair, Isaac developed jointly with Equifax.

According to company officials, myFICO.com helps consumers to understand and improve their FICO credit score and, therefore, secure the most competitive loan rates possible. Mortgage brokers in Ellie Mae's national network can provide this utility to consumers visiting their Executive Web sites as an additional service, even before they enter the pre-qualification process.

``MyFICO.com provides borrowers with simple, factual and pertinent information and tips on how to read and improve their credit standing,'' said Scott Cooley, chief strategy officer for Ellie Mae. ``By allowing our brokers to offer this important educational tool, we are providing them with another means of enhancing their relationship with their customers. In addition, we are increasing the value of our consumer-facing Web sites to brokers.''

The FICO score is used to determine billions of dollars worth of credit decisions each year, including more than 75 percent of mortgage loan originations. In addition, more than 70 of the nation's 100 largest financial institutions rely on the FICO score to determine a consumer's credit worthiness.

``Fair, Isaac has been serving the mortgage industry for over a decade and MyFICO.com directly extends our expertise to helping consumers make better credit decisions for themselves,'' said Sue Simon, Fair, Isaac vice president of myFICO. ``Our alliance with Ellie Mae opens the door to MyFICO.com for their broker clients who, in turn, can offer the benefits of our service to their customers. As a result this partnership will significantly help many thousands of home owners and new home buyers across the U.S. to apply the insights and power of credit scoring to improve their personal credit outlook.''
