Chase plans to boost its refinance production and is hiring hundreds of loan originators to execute the strategy.
In a news release today, the New York-based company said it plans to recruit 300 mortgage officers. The hirings are planned over the next six months.
The expansion will support an increase in refinance transactions.
The “seasoned mortgage professionals” are being hired to service customers at 1,000 bank branches located in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.
After the hirings are done, the “local home team” will stand at around 700.
Originators will have the opportunity to apply at recruiting events later this month throughout the region.
Chase said 43 percent of U.S. households are near one of its branches, while more than half of all real estate offices are within five miles.
