The parent of SunTrust Mortgage Inc. announced a new residential loan production facility in North Carolina and is staffing up the operation. It’s the second consecutive year that the lender has executed a recruiting campaign in the region.
A new loan sales center has been opened in Charlotte, SunTrust Banks Inc. announced Wednesday. Residential loans will be processed and underwritten at the site.
SunTrust calls the new center “state-of-the-art.”
Around 40 underwriters are already working at the facility. By the end of the year, staffing is expected to reach a hundred.
A previous hiring campaign at SunTrust Mortgage had underwriter salaries ranging from $42,000 to $67,000 based on experience.
SunTrust Mortgage Senior Vice President of Consumer Direct Channel Jeffrey McCabe said the new location will support home lending throughout the Richmond, Va.-based lender’s national footprint. He noted that Charlotte’s “skilled workforce” compliments SunTrust’s existing presence.
In the summer of 2011, SunTrust Mortgage added 76 mortgage production jobs in the Southeast.
Residential originations exceeded $23 billion last year at SunTrust. First-half 2012 production has blown past $15 billion.
