CitiMortgage is working on tripling its staff in the Grand Canyon State.
The mortgage job recruiting effort is part of Citigroup's expansion in its Tucson, Ariz., operations, where about 1,400 employees support a number of its business, spokeswoman Janis Tarter told MortgageDaily.com in an e-mail statement.
While currently only 50 of those workers support CitiMortgage's business, the plan is to add 150 mortgage loan service customer service employees by the end of the year, she added.
The company decided to expand in this area because "we have had success hiring and retaining qualified employees in Tucson," Tarter said. "The time zone there also makes it easier to serve our customers in the West."
The lender reported real estate lending originations amounted to $38.6 billion in the second quarter.
