Broker Thrives Using Technology

Having placed in the top 100 nationwide every year running, Bruce Byrwa said that today’s wireless technology has changed the way he does business. “It has supercharged my productivity,” Byrwa told MortgageDaily.com. “I can even email a loan application to a client right from my car.”

Byrwa said he has been in the mortgage business for about 15 years and is currently the top broker at Newport Beach, Calif.-based Bonita Capital Financial Corp.

Aside from his own development of rewarding customer relationships, Byrwa said the BlackBerry, Pocket PC, and Nice Office program has allowed him to organize his productivity so solidly that he consistently closes a full range of first and second mortgage loans to the tune of $8 to $10 million a month.

The BlackBerry, he said, is used for his contacts and replaces his cellular phone, while the Pocket PC carries all the same information and software programs as his computer at the office. “I used to have to transfer all the data from the BlackBerry and Pocket PC to my office computer at the end of the day,” Byrwa explained. “Now, with Nice Office, it automatically (wirelessly) updates the information.”

Nice Office, an eAgency Systems product, is a Web-based mobile solution that allows Byrwa to access the Internet from anywhere, including from his car (that also features wireless OnStar and GPS Navigational tools) while stuck in traffic. The Nice Office program interfaces with Byrwa’s BlackBerry and Pocket PC and utilizes the Internet for real time access.

“All I need is my BlackBerry and my Pocket PC,” he said. “When I am stuck on the freeway I can pull up a fortune of information. It brings my office into the car; with all my data that is synchronized at the office.”

Byrwa said he was the first mortgage broker to use the Nice Office program and was able to give the company feedback about how the program works for those in the mortgage industry. “The company is really responsive,” he said. “There is a whole slew of customized features for the mortgage guy.”

Over the years, Byrwa said, the improvements have been great but “you were still stuck to your desk.”

Now, he said, “My whole pipeline is on my machine … it has changed my life. You can be working while you are playing — the freedom is amazing.”
