The deadline is fast approaching for the renewal process with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry. Loan originators who are renewing can utilize a streamlined process.
As of June 30, there were 494,271 originators were registered in the system including 110,710 state-licensed or state-registered originators and 387,618 originators at financial institutions who were registered through the federal registry.
The 2013 NMLS renewal period runs from Nov. 1 until Dec. 31.
One renewal handbook promises to guide company users through the state-licensed process, while another handbook was created for state-licensed individuals. Both handbooks include basic information about how to prepare to request renewal of licenses in NMLS.

Registrants are advised to log in with their user names and passwords and ensure all information is current. Information can be reviewed and license-registration can be confirmed online using the “Preparing for Renewal Quick Guide.”
Users then click the renewal tab to request license renewal or indicate to their regulator the licenses they do not intend to renew.
Renewals are only available for originators with an approved status.
