Three mortgage loan originators are using a new morning radio talk show to reach prospective borrowers in the nation’s capital.

The three co-host The RBC Mortgage Show and are sharing their combined 35 years of mortgage experience with the listeners of AM1050 WFED and AM1450 WOL in the District of Columbia.

The originators, David Chandler, Carl Coleman, and Rosetta Gray, recently began hosting the second RBC Mortgage radio show to be heard in the Washington, D.C., area.

Coleman said recently discussed topics included the new “pay option” ARMs that offer the borrower four different payment options.

“We spotlight one or two products on the program and invite listeners to call in,” Coleman explained. “The key (in originations) is to make sure the clients understand and are comfortable with the different loan programs.”

Not only are they branding their names within the community and building up the company’s reputation, they are also developing relationships with real estate agents — adding to the shows value.

“One of the reasons it’s successful is that not only consumers, but real estate agents listen to the show,” Chandler told MortgageDaily.com. “We’ve picked up business from agents and we are hitting both markets from the radio shows.”

RBC’s area manager, Shirvan Joseph added that the hour-long show generates an average of 30 calls a week from potential borrowers. “We feel we are providing a public service,” Joseph said of the show’s educational format. “At the same time increasing exposure.”

Chandler said WFED and WOL have a combined audience of over one million listeners and that WOL targets the federal workforce in the district area.

“The calls we’ve received have been people who know what they are asking,” he explained of the quality of calls they’ve taken. “We get a lot of refinance questions — and about whatever the topic of the day is.”

Houston based-RBC Mortgage reports $17.2 billion in total loan volume for 2004. The company said it has over 2500 employees at 165 branches across the nation.
