Conferences Address MSRs, Wholesale and Reverse

Upcoming mortgage-related events

March 12, 2015

By AIMEE L. BROWN Mortgage Daily

A bouquet of conferences and workshops will bloom throughout March, into April and beyond. With topics that include servicing rights, wholesale lending and reverse mortgages -- mortgage professionals have their pick of subject matter.

On March 16 and March 17, the Information Management Network will host its second annual Residential Mortgage Servicing Rights conference with discussion centered on MSR issues. Held at the Marriott New York Downtown in New York, the conference price tag ranges from $995 to $1,995 for on-site registration.

The next Building Blocks for Directors: Keys to Success workshops, hosted by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, are slated for March 16 through March 18 at the Doubletree Hotel in San Antonio, Texas, and April 13 through April 15 at the Sheraton Indianapolis at City Centre. Workshop costs run $99, and the OCC's website said registration caps were set at 35 participants.

The 2015 NAMB Wholesale Summit, hosted by the National Association of Mortgage Professionals, will premiere at the Hyatt Plaza Orlando Airport hotel in Orlando, Fla., on March 21. Depending on participation level, the summit runs $995 to $2,995 and has a 100-person limit. During the one-day event, industry professionals will tackle legal hurdles wholesalers and their clients face.

Starting March 23, the American Bankers Association will hold its three-day 2015 ABA Government Relations Summit at the Marriott Marquis in the District of Columbia. This free event will feature regulatory professionals and congressional members, including Sen. Sherrod Brown, the Senate Banking Committee’s ranking member.

"The summit is a great opportunity for bankers to advocate for the changes hometown banks need to better serve their customers," ABA Chief Executive Officer and President Frank Keating said. "Our collective voice is critical as we work to educate policymakers on the important role banks play in America's economic growth."

As the ABA summit winds down, the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association kicks off its 2015 eastern regional meeting titled Help More People from March 25 to March 27. The impact of financial assessment on consumers and the reverse mortgage industry will be the focal topic, according to the NRMLA's announcement. Held at the Intercontinental City Hotel in New York Times Square, the meet-up ranges from $645 to $895, with member status and registration date affecting the price.

The Mortgage Bankers Association's National Technology in Mortgage Banking Conference & Expo 2015 will flower from March 29 through April 1. The four-day event pricing ranges from $1,250 to $2,150, depending on MBA membership status and registration date.

Housed at the Hyatt Regency Orlando in Orlando, Fla., the technology conference will feature speakers such as 2015 MBA Vice Chairman and Quicken Loans Inc. CEO Bill Emerson, as well as Ridge Global Solutions CEO and former Pennsylvania Governor Thomas Ridge.

Another ABA event has planted itself at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch in St. Louis on April 15, April 16 and April 17. This time, the ABA 2015 Risk Management Forum - Make Sense of Risk will feature keynote speaker Richard Parsons, the author of Broke: America’s Banking System. Forum fare runs $1,390 to $1,790, and agenda items will unearth effective measures for risk management professionals.

Irvine, Calif.-based CoreLogic Inc. revealed that its RiskSummit 2015 dates would commence on July 26 and end on July 28 at the St. Regis Monarch Beach hotel in Dana Point, Calif. At this point, event information and registration are not online but will go live April 1, according to the press statement.

For regulators, investors and financial workers in the securitization industry, the IMN 21st Annual ABS East conference will be in Miami from Sept. 16 until Sept. 18. No hotel information is currently available, but interested attendees can register by June 12 for $2,695.
