On Mortgage Daily's conference calendar are 24 conventions and other events for October. Another 21 meetings on scheduled for November, and just three are on the calendar for December.
Beginning yesterday and continuing until Wednesday, the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals is holding the 2014 NAHREP National Convention and Latin Music Festival at the JW Marriott L.A. Live Hotel in Los Angeles. Around 2,500 people are expected to attend the event, which is sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank, N.A.
Mortgage Bankers Association President and Chief Executive Officer David Stevens is among the speakers scheduled for the NAHREP event.
Next week, from Oct. 19 to Oct. 22, MBA is holding its Annual Convention & Expo at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Michael Lewis, author of The Big Short, along with Kevin Spacey are among the scheduled speakers. Entertainment will be provided by Hall & Oates.
On the schedule for MBA's convention -- the biggest event for the mortgage industry -- is a discussion about GSE reform by Fannie Mae President and CEO Tim Mayopoulos and Freddie Mac CEO Don Layton. In addition, Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro and Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Mel Watt will give updates about their agencies.
Pricing for the MBA meeting ranges from $675 to $2,445, depending on the type of attendee and if the registration is purchased by Oct. 16.
On the very same dates as the MBA conference is the American Bankers Association's Annual Convention at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas. Registrations fees are $1,195 for ABA members and $2,095 for non-members.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency is holding two Credit Risk and Risk Assessment workshops on Oct. 28 and Oct. 29 at the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade. The $99 events, which are limited to the first 35 registrants, are designed exclusively for directors of institutions supervised by the OCC.

The cost for the event ranges from $475 to $2,250, depending on the type of attendee and the date of registration.
