A ranking of the biggest Latino loan officers continues to be dominated by Wells Fargo & Co.’s mortgage unit, with its LOs accounting for nearly half.
Among the nation’s 250 top-producing Latino loan originators, mortgage production totaled 32,783 home loans closed
for $8.107 billion in 2015.
The top 250 LOs improved on their collective residential loan originations in 2014, when
22,711 mortgages were funded for more than $5 billion.
Those details were discussed in the second annual
Top 250 Latino Mortgage Originator Report from the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals.
Women made up just 29 percent of the top-producing Latinos, while men accounted for 71 percent.
At the top of the list was
Carlos Larrazabal, who closed 518 loans. Larrazabal works for WashingtonFirst Mortgage in Fairfax, Virginia.
No.
2 Manuel Corral, who originated 408 mortgages, hangs his hat at Golden Empire Mortgage Inc. in Pomona, California. He slipped from No. 1 the previous year.
After that was
Sergio Corona with production of 349 loans. Based in Des Moines, Iowa, Corona is employed by Wells Fargo Home Mortgage — which, like last year, dominated the list with 121 LOs making the top-250.
Alex Varela — who works for PrimeLending in Bedford, Texas — came in fourth with 346 loans originated. He moved up from fifth spot a year earlier.
No. 5
Rodrigo Ballon closed 319 loans through Crosscountry Mortgage in San Diego.
The second most-represented company was New
American Funding, which employed 29 of the top-250. The Tustin, California-based company’s president, Patty Arvielo, is a Hispanic who is on NAHREP’s corporate board of governors.
Thirteen of Quicken Loans Inc.’s originators made NAHREP’s list, landing it in the No. 3 company spot.
