Fewer home loans were modified on a monthly basis, and the decline hit both proprietary modifications and government-supported modifications.
Mortgage servicers completed a total of 33,832 permanent loan modifications during the second month of this year.
Activity fell from the previous month, when the number of loan modifications completed by servicers came in at 35,167.

The latest activity was also down from February 2014, when there were 42,685 loan modifications completed.
Proprietary loan modifications accounted for 23,758 modifications in February 2015, fewer than 24,402 a month earlier and 30,230 a year earlier.
Mortgages modified through the Home Affordable Modification Program made up 10,074 of the latest total, retreating from 10,765 in January.
In February 2014, HAMP modifications numbered 12,455.
HAMP permanent modifications have reached 1,469,295 completed modifications
since the program went live.
