The parent of National Mortgage Insurance Corp. has found a new president among its own executive ranks and promoted an employee who has been with the firm since it opened for business.
NMI Holdings Inc. on Thursday that it has create the new role of president to oversee sales, marketing and underwriting operations as well as servicing and information technology.
Filling the newly created position is Claudia Merkle, the Emeryville, California-based organization’s chief operating officer. Merkle has been with the company since it launched in 2012.
She became COO in 2016.
Bradley Shuster, the chairman and chief executive officer of NMI whom Merkle will report to, noted that she was instrumental in building the mortgage insurer’s sales organization, which he called “a model for the industry.”
In all, Merkle reportedly has 25 years’ experience in mortgage banking, mortgage insurance, business development and operations.
