Home lending activity was up by nearly a fourth on a quarter-over-quarter basis at Quicken Loans Inc. The servicing portfolio expanded.
Residential loan originations at the Detroit-based company were $16.1 billion during the three months ended Sept. 30.
The performance data was provided by Quicken as part of the Mortgage Daily Third Quarter 2014 Mortgage Origination Survey.
Business improved by $3.0 billion compared to three months earlier.
Mortgage production, however, fell just shy of the $17.0 billion generated in the third-quarter 2013.
In the first nine months of 2014, Quicken funded $40.4 billion.
The lender’s mortgage servicing portfolio finished September at $154 billion, growing from $148.3 billion as of June 30.

Quicken reports a staff of more than 11,000 team members.
Headcount was up from 10,000 three months earlier and a year earlier.
