The head of the home-lending business at SunTrust Banks Inc. is leaving the company, and a mortgage executive from a rival company has been hired as her replacement.
Dorinda Smith was named president and chief executive officer of SunTrust Mortgage Inc. in 2015. She took over the role from Jerome Lienhard.
Smith’s time at the helm of SunTrust Mortgage, however, has come to an end with the disclosure by the Atlanta-based bank-holding company that she is retiring.
When Smith, who was with SunTrust for 22 years, retires on March 31, Todd Chamberlain will become the
executive vice president and head of mortgage at SunTrust.
The statement said that Chamberlain has more than three decades in mortgages and banking.
Most recently, Chamberlain worked
as executive vice president of consumer lending support services at Regions Bank.
Before that, he was CEO of PNC Mortgage.
“Todd Chamberlain brings a wealth of knowledge and talent to SunTrust,” Mark Chancy, vice chairman and consumer segment executive of SunTrust, said in the announcement. “We look forward to his leadership as we continue to develop ways to make our mortgage process as seamless and stress-free as possible for our clients.”
