The quarterly volume of multifamily mortgage-backed securities issued by Fannie Mae has not let up this year.
The level of multifamily issuances during the third quarter was $5.4 billion, according to a report Wednesday from the Washington, D.C.-based company.
Volume was in line with the first half of this year, when $10.3 billion was issued in securities backed by apartment buildings.
So far this year, multifamily issuances amounted to $16.7 billion.
By Dec. 31, the total is projected to surpass $20 billion.
Year-to-date Sept. 30, resecuritization issuance for the Fannie Mae Guaranteed Multifamily Structures program was $4.1 billion and is expected to exceed $6 billion by the time the year is over.
Fannie said that it has $90 billion in multifamily mortgage-backed securities outstanding.
