| Several FHA jobs are open in Michigan, while a Florida-based financial institution is adding servicing and processing positions. A report on Texas employment found activity within the mortgage sector there.
A press release today indicated that Shore Mortgage plans to hold a career open house at the Westin in Southfield, Mich., on July 9 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Shore said it has 100 immediate openings, and it wants to highlight employee benefits. Among the open positions are FHA loan processors, underwriters and account executives. The company also has openings for post-closing specialists, quality control auditors and loan officers. In December 2008, Shore said it was recruiting 100 new employees. The company reported in March 2008 that it was seeking 100 new employees — a move was expected to push headcount to 400 at the time. Everbank Financial Corp. recently reported to MortgageDaily.com that it seeks to fill 60 open mortgage positions, including 38 in the Jacksonville area where it is based. Everbank hired 71 new mortgage employees from May 17 to June 17, including 58 in Jacksonville. The jobs are mostly full-time, permanent positions primarily for the mortgage processing and servicing operations. Current headcount across all of Everbank is over 1,700, including 1,100 mortgage employees. A report from Spherion Corp. indicated that the mortgage and real estate sectors are among industries that are seeing employment activity in Texas. The report was based on a survey of Texas employees conducted by Harris Interactive. “Although unemployment continues to rise, the Texas jobless rate continues to remain well below the national average,” the report said. “While it is too soon to label this as a lasting trend, we are hearing that more companies are revisiting their staffing needs.” |
