Mortgage Graveyard

Archived reporting from 1999-2010, updated October 12, 2025 for continuity.

The Mortgage Graveyard is our chronological archive of mortgage lenders, banks, and financial institutions that failed or were shuttered during the housing bust and its aftermath. Many of these stories were originally published on the ASP version of MortgageDaily.com and are preserved here to document what happened, when and why.

Below you’ll find links to some of the most heavily cited stories from our archive, along with a brief description of each. These pages have been restored at their original slugs to retain link equity from universities, government agencies and major news organizations.
