The Monthly Treasury Average reached another all-time low, though an end might in sight for the index’s illustrious run.
Based on Federal Reserve data released today, the MTA fell to 0.32500 percent in November. It was the lowest level recorded for MTAÂ based on data going back to April 1953.
The index, used on some adjustable-rate mortgages to determine exactly how much the rate will adjust, was 0.33000 percent in October. A year earlier, MTA was 0.48083 percent.
The MTA is calculated using an average of the one-year Treasury yield for each of the past 12 months.
The monthly average for the one-year Treasury was 0.25 percent in November, edging up from 0.23 percent in October. The monthly average had not risen since April, when it was 0.45 percent.
The yield on the one-year Treasury closed Nov. 30 at 0.27 percent, rising from 0.22 percent on Oct. 29. The one-year yield closed at 0.26 percent today.
