Issuance increases 48% between October and November
Preliminary data on the issuance of agency mortgage-backed securities indicate that volume jumped by nearly half between October and November. Much of the gain was fueled by the Federal National Mortgage Association, though a healthy contribution was also made by the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp.
Between Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Government National Mortgage Association, 48 percent more in fixed-rate MBS was securitized during November than in October. The last time agency issuance was this strong was in June 2009.
Volume has escalated by 81 percent compared to the same month last year.
