Quarterly originations slowed at Guild Mortgage Co. , though year-to-date volume ascended to an all-time high. The servicing portfolio reached a new record, and staffing hasn’t changed much over the past year.
The San Diego-based company reported that it serviced roughly 217,146 residential loans with a collective unpaid principal balance of $44.86 billion as of Sept. 30.
That turned out to be the biggest mortgage servicing portfolio ever for Guild since its inception in 1960.
The servicing portfolio was
previously reported at 208,246 loans for $42.773 billion as of three months earlier and 182,560 loans for $36.540 billion as of 12 months earlier.
Mortgage originations came in at $4.41 billion during the quarter ended Sept. 30. Business retreated from 20,733 loans funded for $4.875 billion during the second quarter. But production was better than 18,797 loans closed for $4.398 billion during the third-quarter 2017.

So far this year, residential originations worked out to $12.75 billion — an all-time record
for the first-nine months of a year.
Headcount exceeded 4,000, down from 4,377 previously reported for mid-year 2018. But human resources exceeded the same date last year,
when 3,937 people were on the payroll.
Guild reported 344 branches and satellite offices.
