Quicken Loans Inc. is bringing on 800 people. But there is a catch to some of the additions.
Quicken previously reported a staff of 4,000 people, including 3,700 employees at the Downtown Detroit headquarters operation.
A posting on the company’s website indicates that 500 interns and 300 “technology all stars” are being hired.
College students and recent graduates are the target of the hiring campaign.
More than 400 people are already on Quicken’s information technology team. The existing staff includes developers, programmers and project managers as well as data warehouse engineers and technical support specialists.
The technology staff supports the company’s MyQLÂ mobile application.
“Why not cultivate your tech talent into a rewarding IT career with Quicken Loans, a trailblazer in the online mortgage industry,” the online posting asks. “We’re looking to expand our already well-rounded technology team by over 300 data wizards.”
Stephanie Koske, who posted the statement, noted that she, herself, was an intern just a year ago.
“Right here in Motown, there’s a goldmine of cutting-edge technology careers that are constantly pushing the limits and revolutionizing the IT world,” Koske wrote. “College students and recent graduates can experience a life-changing (and super-duper fun!) summer internship that provides invaluable preparation for the real world.”
The online lender said it closed a record $30 billion in home loans during 2011.
