A delinquent borrower has paid for a billboard in Wilmington, North Carolina, in his effort to avoid a foreclosure on his delinquent loan with SunTrust Mortgage Inc.

Scott Griffin had three loans with the Richmond, Virginia-based company as of 2007. One of the loans came due, and SunTrust initiated foreclosure proceedings on it.

So in an effort to avert the foreclosure, Griffin researched his loan documents and determined that SunTrust had never held clear title to his loan which was sold to a third party.

That is according to a story from WECT 6 in Wilmington.

In addition, Griffin says on his website, Citizen’s Science, that
a clause in a prospectus supplement about servicer advances is an indication of some sort of fraudulent scheme by the lender.

Griffin, who is not an attorney, presents other forms of alleged dubious activities by SunTrust on his website and claims SunTrust does not have the legal authority to foreclose on him.

So he took out a billboard in Wilmington that says, “SunTrust Mortgage ‘Fake Loans’ ” and
“Google… #SunTrustScandal.” In the background is a dark image of a house.

For it’s part, SunTrust declined to comment on the foreclosure.

“Mr. Griffin’s current relationship with SunTrust is involved in ongoing foreclosure litigation currently before a judge in New Hanover County court,” SunTrust said in a written statement to Mortgage Daily. “We believe that is the appropriate forum for concerns, and will refrain from publicly discussing client matters or ongoing litigation.”
