Hundreds of hirings are planned by Movement Mortgage LLC as the rapidly growing company expands its South Carolina headquarters.
Since the Indian Land, South Carolina-based firm was founded in 2008, it has grown its national headcount to more than 4,100 employees.
The heavy recruiting came as the company has expanded its residential originations
— which are on track to exceed $12 billion this year.
Despite the national decline in refinance originations predicted for this year for the industry as a whole, Movement has plans to bolster its staff even further.
An announcement Tuesday from the South Carolina Department of Commerce indicated that the home lender plans to expand its corporate headquarters. Movement will spend $18 million to build a 91,000-square–foot facility.
The statement indicated that more than 700 jobs are expected to be created during the next five years as a result of the expansion. There are currently more than 650 employees at its Indian Land headquarters.
“Movement Mortgage has been an incredible partner to our state since its doors opened in Lancaster County two years ago,” South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said in the statement.
Haley was
approved Tuesday by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to be ambassador to the United Nations for the Trump administration.
“This hiring and expansion is going to help drive our business forward as we continue to lead a movement of change in the mortgage industry, corporate culture and our communities,” Movement Mortgage Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Casey Crawford said in the news release. “Once again, Governor Haley and the State of South Carolina have proven to be great partners in creating a business-friendly climate that promotes growth and a spirit of partnership between the government and the private sector.”
Hirings will begin during the current quarter.
