A larger staff was reported by PrimeLending, which also said that it increased mortgage production during the second quarter.
The Dallas-based company closed 16,508 home loans for $3.550 billion during the three months ended June 30, according to data provided to Mortgage Daily.
Business was better than in the first quarter, when 14,446 mortgages were originated for $3.046 billion.
Activity also strengthened from the second-quarter 2012, when 15,608 loans were closed for $3.119 billion.
Production, which is all generated through the retail channel, was 30,954 loans for $6.596 billion during the entire first-half 2013.
There were 5,053 loans for $0.877 billion in the mortgage servicing portfolio as of the end of last month.
The portfolio grew from 3,643 loans serviced for $0.636 billion as of the end of the first quarter.
The most recent total reflected $0.023 billion in loans owned by PrimeLending and $0.853 billion in loans serviced for third parties.
As of June 30, 2013, PrimeLending employed 2,804 people.
Headcount grew from 2,643 employees as of March 31.
