loanDepot reported the current- and prior-period volume as part of the Mortgage Daily First Quarter 2016Â Mortgage Origination Survey.
An improvement in mortgage lending was also observed versus the $6.4 billion reflected in the first-quarter 2015 report.
No details were provided about the mortgage servicing portfolio, which was previously reported at $16.6 billion as of June 30, 2015.
loanDepot said it currently employs 5,200 people.
Staffing has expanded from 5,000 employees as of the end of last year.
Just 4,000 people were on the payroll as of March 31, 2015.
The March 31, 2016, included 1,700 licensed loan officers.
