The banking subsidiary of Flagstar Bancorp Inc. has hundreds of job openings in mortgage lending.
Flagstar previously reported in its fourth-quarter earnings report that it employed 3,136 people at its mortgage unit as of Dec. 31. Headcount tumbled from 3,299 three months earlier.
But the Troy, Mich.-based company hopes to reverse the decline.
Flagstar Bank announced Thursday that it recently leased 95,000 square feet of additional office space in Troy.
“We want to be the best in the business in everything that touches mortgages,” Marshall Soura, head of corporate services, said in the statement. “Our new space will help us organize our workflows to produce the most benefit for our customers.”
Around 500 employees are being moved to the new location this month.
In addition, another 250 jobs are open in mortgage operations that the bank plans to fill this year.
The positions included underwriting, servicing and call center jobs. The jobs are part-time and full-time.
Flagstar said it operates 27 home-loan centers in 13 states.
