A mortgage banking executive who has held senior management roles at some of the nation’s biggest mortgage lenders, including JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s mortgage unit, has joined a Florida-based lender with plans of becoming a significant player in the industry.
The Kislak Organization announced today that Thomas L. Wind has joined Kislak Mortgage LLC as managing director.
Among Wind’s responsibilities will be the development of a strategic plan and the implementation of growth plans at the Miami Lakes, Fla.-based company.
“The market is in dire need of a lender who understands that cookie cutter and quality are not synonymous,” Wind stated in the news release. “Sadly, the lending process has become too focused on ‘one size fits all,’ shrinking the market dramatically.”
Kislak, a 104-year-old company, recently announced plans to add 100 new employees and 10 store-front offices in Florida.
Before taking over Kislak’s residential mortgage unit, Wind was chief executive officer of Aurora Loan Services, according to the statement. The 20-year veteran previously served as CEO of Chase’s residential lending business.
He also was reportedly president and chief operating officer of CitiMortgage Inc.
In today’s statement, Kislak Mortgage CEO Thomas Meyer said Wind’s experience “will add rocket fuel” to the mortgage operation.
Wind added, “I believe wholeheartedly that Kislak Mortgage is positioned to rapidly gain traction in its home state of Florida, and to seize the opportunity to become a significant mortgage banking platform across the entire country.”
