Video of Elizabeth Warren testimony at House hearing

On Tuesday, President Barack Obama’s choice to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau faced House Republicans — who were sometimes less than cordial.
Elizabeth Warren spoke before the House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on TARP, Financial Services and Bailouts of Public and Private Programs. The hearing sought to answer the question, “Who is her department accountable to in the federal government?” In a contentious question-and-answer session, Republicans often interrupted Warren and didn’t let her finish answering questions. Much of the battling dealt with advice that Warren has been giving related to the potential mortgage servicer settlement with state attorneys. |
