Many of the recent executive appointments that have been made by mortgage bankers have been for regional management positions in production.
Last week, Guild Mortgage Co. issued a statement indicating that Rob Allphin had been hired as regional manager for the Mountain Region.
Allphin, who will work from the Salt Lake City area, previously spent more than five years at Academy Mortgage Corp.
His other prior employers include Bank of America Corp., Countrywide Financial Corp. and CTX Mortgage, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The news release indicated that Allphin’s appointment was part of a planned expansion throughout the Mountain Region.
In Columbia, S.C., Matt MacGillvray was promoted to southeast regional manager from branch manager by Guild. He’ll be responsible for overseeing retail production in seven states including Florida.
Prior to starting with Guild in 2012, MacGillvray was a “high producing loan officer”
at BofA for more than two decades.
The new southwest regional manager at Guild is Andy Stewart, the company announced Monday. He was promoted from his role of district manager.
Before joining Guild in 2011, Stewart, who will operate from Reno, Nev., spent more than a decade at BofA, where he was most recently a regional sales executive.
Another executive was hired for the Southwest by Envoy Mortgage. The Houston-based 60-branch operation said last month that its new regional vice president for the Southwest is Michael Castanon. His territory includes Arizona and Southern California.
Castanon reportedly has more than two decades in the mortgage business including time at PrimeLending and Pacific Mercantile Bank.

Keith Frachiseur said in the announcement that Castanon is “a highly regarded executive” and a “gifted leader.”
In the Mid-Atlantic, Stearns Lending LLC has recruited John J. Goulding away from Wells Fargo, a Feb. 8 statement said. He’ll oversee a retail expansion in the region.
Prior to his new gig at Stearns, Goulding spent nearly two decades at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.
JoAnna Bignell will lead recruiting efforts in retail lending and reverse mortgage lending at Open Mortgage LLC, a Feb. 26 statement said. She is expected to recruit top-producing branches and help branch managers build their teams.
Prior employers for Bignell, who has two decades’ experience, include MetLife, Security One Lending and Wells Fargo.
