More than 2,000 home-purchase transactions were enabled this year as a result of a Wells Fargo & Co. program that provides down payment assistance.
Since 2012, the San Francisco-based company reports that it has helped 12,725 homebuyers with down payment assistance grants and homebuyer education.
That worked out to over $327 million invested by Wells Fargo to support local economic recovery and advance neighborhood revitalization in 48 communities.
“As part of the effort, Wells Fargo donated $29 million in local initiative grants to nonprofits in support of neighborhood revitalization,” an announcement Monday said.
The financial institution provides the help through its NeighborhoodLIFT program, which was created with NeighborWorks America.
During just 2016,
Wells Fargo reports that it provided support to more than 2,000 homebuyers. The program was enhanced this year by specifically focusing on the needs of eligible low- and moderate-income homebuyers, military service members and veterans with offers to match down payment assistance grants up to $7,500.
“Grant funds are still available for LIFT programs down payment assistance in Detroit; San Diego County; Minneapolis-St. Paul; Seattle-King County, Washington; Columbia, South Carolina; Austin, Texas; Jacksonville, Florida; and El Paso, Texas,” today’s statement said.
