Employment numbers in the mortgage industry continued to swell during the month of October, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The seasonally adjusted monthly report revealed about 398,000 filled the ranks of mortgage banker and broker positions, up from 381,000 in September and 374,000 in August.
In October 2001, about 15% less people filled those positions at 338,800.
Beginning in 2003, Fannie Mae and Freddie will increase their conforming loan size limits, which some experts say will keep the hive busy.
