Several mortgage banking firms and two mortgage service providers have been recognized by local news publications as being among the best employers in their region.

For the 11th consecutive year, the Providence Business News has named Embrace Home Loans a 2016 Best Place to Work, according to a news release Monday.

Newport, Rhode Island-based Embrace reportedly was one of 60 companies judged for the ranking by Best Companies Group and employs people in more than 40 offices.

Best Companies Group selects companies
based on employee surveys, management reports, and human resource practices like benefits offered and paid-time off policies.

In Emeryville, California, National Mortgage Insurance Corp. said this month that it was
certified as a great workplace by Great Place to Work.

The survey found that 98 percent of National M.I. employees consider it a great workplace. Roughly the same share said the work atmosphere and their bosses are great.

Great Place to Work surveys employees to help it rate employers.

GSF Mortgage reported on April 27 that it received three awards
at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Top Workplace breakfast.

The awards included No. 1 employer in Southeastern Wisconsin in the small company category, giving it the Best in Class award. It was also among eight other mortgage companies and banks that won a Top Workplace award, and it was the winner of the New Ideas award.

“The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel partnered with Workplace Dynamics and surveyed southeastern Wisconsin companies based on company alignment, connection, execution, work, management and pay and benefits,” the statement said. “Employers are then ranked in three business size categories: small, midsize and large.”

Brookfield, Wisconsin-based GSF has fewer than 150 employees.

Another WorkplaceDynamics-powered award was handed out by
The Atlanta Journal Constitution to Primary Capital Mortgage, a news release last month said. The Atlanta-based firm received Workplace Achiever award.

An April 11 announcement indicated 1st Advantage Mortgage was ranked among the
50 Best Companies to Work For by Mortgage Executive Magazine. There were 200 companies vying for the designation, and Lombard, Illinois-based 1st Advantage was No. 12.

1st Advantage reports a staff of 200 employees and 20 branch locations. Just loan originators were surveyed, though, for the ranking.

Also receiving recognition from Mortgage Executive Magazine was Gateway Mortgage Group in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Gateway reports that it added more than 368 jobs last year. Staffing currently exceeds 700 employees.
Loan originations at Gateway surpassed $3 billion in 2015, while the servicing portfolio stands at more than 50,000 loans for more than $8 billion.

Ellie Mae Inc. reported on April 20 that it was recognized as a winner of the 2016 Bay Area Best Places to Work by the San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley Business Journal. It was the fourth time that the Pleasanton, California-based firm was honored in the large company category, which includes companies with between 250 and 900 employees.

Ellie, a Mortgage Daily advertiser, reports headcount of 900 people, up 35 percent from 2015.
