On the most-recent total, the Mortgage Default Risk Index was 82.5. That put the weighted-average probability of default at 0.96 percent.
The level of risk on mortgages was down more than 3 percent from the second quarter.
Compared to the third quarter of 2015, there was a nearly 5 percent decline in risk.
