After slashing delinquency and raising new monthly business to the best levels in years, MGIC Guaranty Insurance Corp. did it again.
The Milwaukee-based mortgage insurance company previously
reported that it wrote $3.7 billion in new policies during May 2015.
That was the best month for new business at MGIC since
at least 2009 based on the oldest available data maintained by Mortgage Daily.
MGIC reported
Wednesday that it wrote $4.5 billion in primary new insurance during June 2015.
In June 2014, business totaled $3.2 billion.
During the first-half 2015, business at the mortgage insurer amounted to $20.8 billion.
MGIC reported
a primary delinquent inventory of 66,357 loans as of June 30, 2015, reducing the distressed portion of its book of business from 68,224 as of one month earlier.
As of June 30, 2014, the primary delinquent inventory was
85,416.
The number of delinquent policies has not been this low since at least 2009 based the oldest available data maintained by Mortgage Daily.
With an estimated 973,100 policies in force as of the end of last month, Mortgage Daily estimates that the delinquency rate was 6.82 percent.
The estimated delinquency rate retreated from an estimated 7.02 percent as of May 31, while the descent was even more substantial compared to the 8.98 percent rate as of the same point last year.
