Quarterly mortgage production at Primary Residential Mortgage Inc. edged higher, while its servicing portfolio expanded. But the number of employees was trimmed.
Home lending volume during the three months ended Sept. 30 worked out to 6,075 loans for $1.225 billion.
The Salt Lake City-based firm reported the statistics, as well as other operational data, as part of the Mortgage Daily Third Quarter 2014 Mortgage Origination Survey.
Business was modestly better than in the prior three-month period, when 5,957 mortgages were funded for $1.168 billion.
Activity also picked up from the third-quarter 2013, when production amounted to 5,935 loans for $1.189 billion.
PRMI finished September 2014 with a mortgage servicing portfolio of 8,630 loans for $1.724 billion.
The mortgage banker serviced 7,407 loans for $1.475 billion three months earlier and 8,137 loans for $1.571 billion a year earlier.
Moving on to staffing, PRMI reported that 1,865 people were on its payroll as of Sept. 30, 2014.
Headcount slipped from 1,881 employees as of June 30 but grew from 1,681 people as of Sept. 30, 2013.
