Among several recent appointments at real estate finance organizations are an addition to the board of directors at a government-sponsored enterprise, a chief financial officer at a residential lender and a pair of wholesale executives and a large mortgage banking firm.
Fannie Mae reported on Nov. 28 that
George W. Haywood has been elected to its board of directors. The “finance and technology entrepreneur” was the director of corporate and high yield bond investments at the hedge fund Moore Capital Management from 1994 to 1998. Before that he was a managing director at Lehman Brothers.
Haywood, who now is a
self-employed private investor, is currently a member of the board of directors at at Denny’s Corp., according to the Washington-based company. In addition, he was previously a member of the XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc.’s board.
“Throughout his career he has demonstrated clear financial prowess, diverse entrepreneurial talents, and strong leadership qualities, complementing those of his peers on the board,” Fannie Mae President and Chief Executive Officer Timothy J. Mayopoulos said in the statement.
Brian Herbert has been recruited by Stearns Lending LLC as regional vice president of wholesale for Southern California, Northern Arizona and Nevada, a Nov. 16 press release said. His more than two decades in the business includes jobs with Citigroup Inc. and Kinecta Federal Credit Union.
In the same announcement, Stearns said it hired Gary Szymanski as
regional vice president of wholesale for the Pacific Northwest. He reportedly has spent more than a quarter-century in mortgage lending, including two decades at Flagstar Bank.
The new executive vice president of retail production in Texas at Gateway Mortgage Group is Rob Wiggins, a Nov. 30 statement said. The Tulsa, Oklahoma-based company said Wiggins has more than 32 years’Â experience, most recently at Cherry Creek Mortgage, where he worked for seven months.
In Las Vegas,
Alterra Home Loans hired Alex Urmersbach as its new chief financial officer, a news release last month said. His more than a decade of experience included time at Bank of America Corp.-Countrywide Home Loans and most-recently Prospect Mortgage LLC.
In addition, Alterra said it promoted
Yvonne Yacono to chief business officer from her position as director of finance. Before joining Alterra in August 2015, she held positions at a variety of firms including three home builders and Security Pacific Bank, where she started in 1981.
Craig Nester has
been hired by Marketplace Home Mortgage as its new business development manager, the Edina, Minnesota-based firm announced on Nov. 22. His mix of real estate and consulting experience most recently included nearly seven years running Nester Business Group.
Sierra Pacific Mortgage recently touted that its public relations manager, Kathy Wall,
was named Outstanding California Business Leader by the California Women’s Leadership Association.
