Quarterly issuance reached the highest ever at the Government National Mortgage Corporation.
Second-quarter issuance of Ginnie Mae securities was $117.0 billion, according to data reported Friday by the government-owned corporation. Quarterly activity was an all-time record. During the first quarter, volume was $89.7 billion. Data reported by eMBS indicated Ginnie issuance was $65.2 billion a year earlier. From January through June, volume was $206.7 billion. Last month, issuance of mortgage-backed securities by Ginnie was $43.5 billion. Ginnie said it was the first time in its 41-year history that monthly issuance surpassed $40 billion. Volume rose from $39.0 billion in May and around $26.4 billion in June 2008. Ginnie Mae I single-family pool issuance exceeded $29 billion in June, while Ginnie Mae II single-family pool securitizations were nearly $14 billion. Multifamily MBS issuance was $0.6 billion. |
